The ultimate honey chocolate cake

Honey chocolate cake

She prepared to go to the fair in Clarksville, Kentucky, when Claire Falk went through her mother's recipe book and ran into this "honey chocolate cake" recipe. She had never seen it before and did not know where her mother had it from, "it was just a recipe card" and she had never eaten it either. But she was glad that she had found it and tried it, because this dish yielded her first victory at a baking contest in Kentucky.

The nickname of Kentucky is "The Bluegrass State", based on the fact that the bluegrass is found in many of the lawns and meadows in the entire state of Kentucky (especially in the northern part of Kentucky and the cities of Clarksville and Louisville).

Imagine yourself for a brief moment in Clarksville Kentucky and bake this beautiful forgotten cake. For people who expect low calories I have to disappoint you.

  • 2/3 cups of butter
  • 1 cup of huney
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2/3 of cocoa powder (the highest grade)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of bakingsoda
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 2/3 cup of buttermilk
  • 23 cm cakepan

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Stir in the cocoa and the flour and toss in the remaining dry products. Mix the butter, honey and eggs well together. Now add the buttermilk in steps and add the dry ingredients through it until a smooth mix is created. Butter the cake tin and do a little bit of flour there and knock it out. Fill the cake tin and put in the oven at 350 degrees for about 40-45 min, use a satay pricker to see if it is cooked.

Then serve warm with vanilla ice cream or with a chocolate butter glaze. And enjoy it and think of Claire for a moment, thanks to her of this beautiful dish.
